RCU Pokhara as LGCDP's Regional Coordination Unit for the Western Development Region's (WDR) was started from July 2009 in Pokhara, Kaski district. Under the region, there are 16 districts of the WDR. The region coordinates 12 old Municipalities and 32 New Municipalities, total of 44 Municipalities and 714 VDCs.
RCU Pokhara works as a coordinating unit between LGCDP/MoFALD and the Local Bodies(LBs). In this aspect, the RCU corresponds, coordinates and supervises LGCDP Program Officers, Focal Persons and ICT Volunteers in each DDC and Municipalities in its region. ICT Volunteers are currently hosted in DDCs and old municipalities only. The program staffs are equally responsible to encourage good local governance and work towards e-Government readiness of the Local Bodies.
The professional staffs representing thematic experts currently engaged in RCU Pokhara are Governance and Capacity Development Expert as Regional Coordinator; Social Mobilization and Community Mediation Expert; Information Communication and Technology Expert; Reporting, Monitoring and Accountability Expert; Gender and Social Inclusion Expert; Social Protection and Vital Registration Officer and Programme Associate.
