Mr. Renaud Meyer, Country Director visited LGCDP Programme Coordination Unit at Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development on 21st April 2015, Tuesday. Mr. Renaud was welcomed by Mr. Purushottam Nepal, National Programme Manager on behalf of the entire team. Following introduction, a brief presentation was held about LGCDP-II which also highlighted history of UNDP contribution towards Governance Sector in Nepal. Mr. Renaud appreciated the presentation and expressed that it provided a much better knowledge of the reality of LGCDP, its strengths and also the challenges it faces. In addition, Mr. Meyer also expressed happiness with the level of commitment and knowledge of the team, and encouraged by the interaction. Mr Meyer later expressed of the presentation, “As indicated, the project activities and results are very impressive and ambitious but also critical to ensuring that the interventions of Government and Development partners translate in benefits and improvements for the local communities”.
Likewise, LGCDP II team interacted with Mr. Meyer. Mr. Meyer mentioned that while he had opportunities to visit field programme of LGCDP II, it was his first time meeting staffs at the centre. He also stated that it will require another discussion to further appreciate the nuances and details of the programme. He further stated that he will continue to look at the programme closely to understand its central and field level operations. The National Programme Manager proposed for a joint field visit in the near future.
Mr. Meyer is scheduled to travel to Janakpur next week, and will meet LGCDP colleagues and see their activities.
