A two day Regional Workshop on Strengthening Systems for Social Protection and Civil Registration Project was organized by Department of Civil Registration, MoFALD at Biratnagar on 9-10 February 2017 at Hotel Xenial, Biratnagar, Morang.
More than 35 participants including officials from DOCR, Local Development Officers, municipality Executive Officers, VDC secretaries, World Bank representatives, Plan International representatives and LGCDP RCU Biratnagar representatives were present at the workshop.
Mr. Anil Kumar Thakur, Director General of the DOCR shared the workshop objective. Mr. Reshmi Raj Pandey, Joint Secretary, MoFALD shared his experience and hoped that participants would provide important feedback on the workshop agenda.
The overall objective of the workshop was to discuss about the project, aimed to improve coverage of social security allowances (SSA), civil registration and delivery of SSA with the theme of 'Right Person, Right Amount, Right Time'. Another major aim of the program was to discuss on amendment of 'Birth, Death and Other Personal Events (Registration) Act, 2033 (1976)'.
Participants provided valuable inputs and suggestions regarding effective project implementation and issues to be considered during amendment of the Act.
